controller mapping guide for emulators
Default bindings by emulator
Every emulator below auto-detects a standard Xbox-layout controller on first run. The table lists the default bindings for the buttons players ask about most — when a button "feels swapped", it's almost always one of these three rows.
| Action | Dolphin (GameCube/Wii) | PCSX2 (PS2) | PPSSPP (PSP) | Eden / Ryubing (Switch) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Confirm / A | Controller A (bottom) | Cross | Cross | Controller A (bottom) |
| Cancel / B | Controller B (right) | Circle | Circle | Controller B (right) |
| Menu | Start | Start | Start | Plus (+) |
| View / Select | — | Select | Select | Minus (−) |
| Home / Guide | Home | PS button | PS button | Home |
When a controller isn't detected at all
That's a pairing problem, not a mapping problem — see 8BitDo not detected and the controller hub for the fix. Mapping only applies once the emulator sees the controller.
Per-game overrides
Dolphin and PCSX2 both support per-game controller profiles, so a GameCube game that expects the C-stick can keep its own bindings without touching your global profile. Eden and Ryubing store per-game input overrides alongside the game's profile folder.
