ryujinx firmware version mismatch fix
Ryujinx rejects firmware that doesn't match its expected version. Install the version the error names — not the newest — into the system folder.
A firmware version mismatch means Ryujinx found firmware, but it isn’t the build Ryujinx expects. The instinct is to grab the newest firmware available — that usually makes it worse. Ryujinx tells you exactly which version it wants; install that one.
Match firmware to the build
-
Read the version the error namesThe error or log line includes a firmware version like
18.1.0. Write it down — that exact version, not the newest one on the internet. You have a specific version number from the error, not a vague "latest". -
Remove the mismatched firmwareOpen Ryujinx, then the system folder where firmware lives. Delete the installed firmware that triggered the mismatch — Ryujinx won't replace it on its own.The firmware dialog shows no firmware installed.
-
Install the matching firmwareUse Ryujinx's own installer —
Tools → Install Firmware— and point it at the dumped firmware for the version you wrote down. The firmware must come from your own console. The dialog lists the version you installed, matching the error's expected version. -
Restart RyujinxClose it fully and reopen. Firmware is checked at startup, so a running instance keeps complaining even after you fix it.The mismatch warning is gone from the log, and games load.
If you don’t have a matching dump
If the firmware you dumped doesn’t match what Ryujinx asks for, the answer is not a download site — those redistribute copyrighted files and frequently ship malware. Either dump the matching firmware from your own console, or point Ryujinx at the firmware you do have and accept that some system titles will refuse to run. Most games run fine once keys and a compatible firmware are in place.
For a maintained continuation with active firmware handling, Ryubing installs the same way — and if you’re still on Yuzu, the equivalent error is covered in prod keys not found.
